The Alentejo and Algarve, Portugal

You will explore two of Portugal’s most noteworthy regions, the Alentejo and Algarve. Starting your journey from North to South you will begin in the Alentejo. In Portuguese, its name means "beyond the Tagus river" which runs through Libson out to the Atlantic. Heading south you will pass through the vastness of the interior, largely flat, the terrain is perfect for long miles on the bike. At the coast, the terrain turns hilly and rugged, with small sheltered coves between the cliffs each beach you pass by is unique. On day 5 you will cross the Ceixe River and enter the Algarve region. Also known as the Faro District, the Algarve is a mix of coastline and rugged interior extending all the way from Faro to Sagres. Blessed with rich culture, beautiful beaches, whitewashed fishing villages and dramatic low cliffs overlooking sandy coves, it is no wonder why locals and visitors from afar have the Algarve region high on the bucket list.
