Discover Alyeska -- Alaska’s largest ski area and home to an average 669 inches of snow per season.

Surrounded by seven glaciers, the spectacular Chugach Range, and the raw wilderness of the Last Frontier, this skiing and snowboarding adventure lets you experience some of Alaska’s best, without having to jump on a bush plane. Less than an hour’s scenic drive from Anchorage lies Alyeska, Alaska’s only major ski resort, featuring over 1,600 acres of skiable terrain and particularly famous for its intermediate and challenging terrain. Enjoy access to slopeside, chateau-style lodging, luxurious guest rooms, incredible food & beverage options from casual to fine dining, and amenities such as saltwater pool, aerial scenic tram, spa, and more. You may even see the Northern Lights -- and if you don’t catch them during waking hours, Alyeska offers an optional Northern Lights wake-up call.

Ski and ride deep powder as you look out over the mountains and their reflection in the vast waterway of Turnagain Arm. The Chugach are also renowned for world-class (or should we say, world’s best?) cat-skiing and heli-skiing, both of which can be easily added to your trip if you’re after the iconic big lines that make this region legendary.

Arrive into Anchorage (see FAQ for recommended transportation options) and transfer to Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, about 40 miles south and under an hour’s drive away. Settle into your accommodations at Alyeska as you adjust to a new rhythm of life slopeside here in the Chugach Mountains. On-site dining and bar options are plentiful, as are your choices in the town of Girdwood (note: due to COVID-19 precautions, these options will be operating with heightened safety measures in place, including more limited capacity).

    Day number 2
    Day 2 - 5

Rise and shine! The next four days are yours to ski and ride to your heart’s content, and mix it up with all that Alaska’s largest ski area has to offer. Intermediate and advanced skiers will love the wide open bowls while tree-lined, groomed runs are ideal for beginners. With 76 named trails and 1,610 skiable acres, the terrain is varied and there are plenty of options, including the longest double black diamond run in all of North America. Heli-skiing and cat-skiing are also highly recommended options -- we suggest signing up early in case weather delays you a day or two.

Get your laps in, close out with some well-earned apres, and rest tired legs in the saltwater pool or whirlpool. Dine in, at the resort, or head out into the town of Girdwood. Be on the lookout for those Northern Lights! Enjoy a solid night of rest so you can do it all over again.

Alaska is known for constantly changing weather and a laid-back attitude. We recommend packing with a “mountain casual” style focused on comfort and convenience. When you venture outdoors, dress in layers to be prepared for the variable weather. The temperate coastal climate at Alyeska Resort is characterized by winter temperatures in the mid 20’s. Don’t forget your swimsuit for the saltwater pool!

Testimonials
Top notch skiing without the burdens of waking up early, altitude, expensive lift tickets and crowds. Also amazing views of the ocean, WHILE SKIING! What else could you ask for???? I'm sorry to anyone who would prefer that these details remain a secret. You have to get to this place and experience it for yourself.

Alyeska is quite the pleasant discovery and essentially the only major lift served ski area in Alaska. The best reason to visit Alyeska is to combine it with some backcountry touring in the Chugach, either leg-powered or if your wallet permits, via helicopter.
