Community Impact

background image

We believe all young people deserve the opportunity to discover their passions and achieve their full potential. We invest in programs and partnerships that help kids build positive skills and mindsets in the communities where we live, work and play. Millions of young people, especially young people of color, girls and non-binary youth, and families experiencing financial challenges, face an opportunity gap, with limited access to the support systems that lead to possibility. We focus evo’s giving and volunteerism on organizations that serve youth in the opportunity gap, and particularly organizations committed to getting kids active, outdoors, and engaged in a positive mentoring relationship.

How We Make Positive Impact

evo partners with nonprofit organizations that reduce barriers to getting young people outside. We partner with organizations by providing grant funding, outfitting young people with the best gear, volunteering, creating unique experiences, and connecting our customers to great causes. We invite you to join us in the work of closing the gap, and opening the door to community, and to adventure.

Skate Like a Girl

Skate Like a Girl’s mission is to create an inclusive community by promoting confidence, leadership, and social justice through skateboarding. Responding to the historic exclusion of certain identities, such as women and trans people, Skate Like a Girl leads programs in Seattle, Portland, and the San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond that create safe spaces and eliminate barriers to access in skateboarding. In 2021, Skate Like a Girl engaged more than 5,000 participants, creating spaces centering on youth, women, trans, non-binary and/or gender nonconforming skaters. As partners, evo and Skate Like a Girl work together in a variety of ways to build a skate community where all people are welcome. For example, at evo’s All Together Skatepark in Seattle, WA, we host weekly inclusive skate nights aka Women &/or Trans Sessions as well as Wheels of Fortune (WOF) – the longest running global gathering of non-traditional skateboarders featuring a contest and showcase for skaters of all ages and skill levels.

Work With Us

People often asked why I started evo and when it started, and I’ve always held that the path of our business is intertwined in our personal journeys. The reality is that in a sense, the inspiration for evo existed long before 2001. My Uncle Jack introduced me to skiing in grade school, and I’ve been doing everything that I can to participate ever since. Selling gear as a little kid provided the means to buy lift tickets and access this amazing experience, and for over 20 years now, evo really has been a story of one thing leads to another. From hustling to buy a lift ticket, to eventually getting the chance to chase winters worldwide, evo has opened doors to a world of sport and culture that I could have never imagined. As we move ahead, the desire to share that same experience drives our site, our stores and most of all, our evoTrip adventure travel vacations – our opportunity to introduce customers to these amazing sports and culture experiences around the world.
