Sample Itinerary
Please note the below is a sample itinerary only. As this trip package is not guided, you are fully free to customize each day’s adventures to your preference.
  • 1
    Day number 1
Arrive in Rossland and check in to the Josie Hotel. The easy 3-hour drive from Spokane requires crossing no mountain passes and Rossland can also be accessed from Cranbrook and Kelowna. From here settle in and enjoy craft cocktails at the hotel or head into Rossland, just a 5-minute drive down the road. Rossland is full of art, culture and food options right in the heart of the Kootenays so be sure to check out everything the town has to offer.
  • 2
    Day number 2
Lets ride! Time to get up and hit the hill. Walk to the lifts and start exploring 4,200 acres spread over three peaks: Red Mountain, Granite Mountain, and Grey Mountain. Each of these mountains offers fun skiing and snowboarding for riders of all abilities. Combined with the sparse crowds, this means there’s nearly always fun stashes of powder to be found. At the end of the day be sure to hit Rafters Lounge, once rated the #1 Ski Town Bar in North America by Powder Magazine.
  • 3
    Day number 3
Repeat! Eat breakfast at your slopeside lodging and hit the hill. These days are yours to explore, from where to how long you wish! 18% of the terrain at Red Mountain is rated for beginners, with runs spread out all over the mountain. A good place to start is the Silverlode Chair, to the Motherlode Chair to the summit of Granite Mountain. From here, there is great beginner terrain on the backside of Granite Mountain off of the Paradise Chair.
  • 4
    Day number 4
Repeat! Intermediate skiers and snowboarders can get their fill, with numerous runs offering nice groomers, intermediate cruisers, and trees to play in. There is also advanced and expert terrain on every part of Red Mountain, the options are nearly limitless. Either side of the Motherlode Chair is a good bet. The Powder Fields are aptly named, along with tons more fun terrain on the backside of Granite Mountain. Dropping skier’s left off of the Motherlode Chair, leads to great tree skiing and some tight chutes.
  • 5

Area Information
Red Mountain

Located in Rossland, BC, the 1st stop on Canada’s famous “Powder Highway,” Red Mountain is a gem of the North. Ranking as one of North America’s largest ski resorts, Red has seemingly endless options and sparse lift lines. With an average of 25 feet (yes feet) of snow per year, it’s no wonder why The NY Times voted Red (and their friendly locals) one of the “Best Places in the World to Visit.” Red also boasts #1 for the “Most Acres Per Skier,” in other words, fresh turns you don't have to fight for!

When traveling to BC, make sure to prepare for deep snow! The resort's elevation of 6,800’ at the summit is high enough to keep the snow light and cold, so bring your powder skis and boards! British Columbia can receive huge snowstorms and temps range from the high teens to the low 30’s, so be sure to pack warm, including all your layers and Gore-Tex.
